Kim Albright is an award-winning Filipina Canadian British writer and director. Her breakout debut feature, With Love and a Major Organ premiered at SXSW (2023) and screened internationally, winning best film awards at Santa Fe Film Festival, Reelworld Film Festival and the Canadian Film Festival. Kim received the DGC award for Best BC Director at the Whistler Film Festival. The film was nominated for the 2023 Jean-Marc Vallée DGC Discovery Award, the SXSW Adam Yauch Hörnblowér Award, the New Director Award at the Cleveland International Film Festival and multiple Leo Awards.

After studying architecture in Montreal, Kim moved to London to direct commercials and music videos. She featured on the British Film Institute’s Upshot Program, showcasing "the most exciting emerging UK filmmaking talent".

Her short films won awards and competed worldwide, including at the BAFTA-qualifying BFI London Film Festival, Encounters Film Festival, and the British Independent Film Festival.

 

She is an alumna of the Canadian Film Centre Directors Lab, the Canadian Academy Director's Program for Women and Women In the Director's Chair (WIDC) Story & Leadership Program. She was the recipient of the WIDC Feature Film Award and the CBC Films WIDC Talent Development Award.

 

Kim is currently in development on a coming-of-age feature film based on the graphic novel I Was Their American Dream, by Malaka Gharib.​​
